2-minute form — tell us your car and garage layout.
We check your switchboard, cable run, and Wi-Fi.
Usually 3–4 hours. Concealed cable run, tidy finish, RCD protection.
App pairing, demo, 5-year workmanship warranty + manufacturer warranty.
Concealed cable runs through the wall cavity or roof space, a dedicated RCBO on the switchboard, weather-rated housing on exterior installs, and a neat final finish. No visible conduit snaking down brickwork.
We commission on-site, pair the charger to your phone app, and show you how to schedule off-peak charging before we leave.
Customer stories
Most Melbourne 7kW single-phase installs sit between $1,690 and $2,400 supply-and-install. Price depends on cable distance, switchboard condition, and whether an RCBO or load-management device is needed. We give you a flat quote on-site before any work starts.
Not necessarily. 7kW single-phase chargers cover 95% of Melbourne homes and give about 40km of range per hour of charging — plenty for overnight. 22kW 3-phase is only needed if you drive long distances daily or already have 3-phase to the house.
Yes — we install Tesla Wall Connectors for Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X across Melbourne. We're Clean Energy Council approved and comply with Tesla's install guidelines.
It's illegal to self-install a hardwired EV charger in Australia. All hardwired chargers must be installed and certified by a licensed A-grade electrician (that's us — A62716) under AS/NZS 3000.
Victoria's Zero Emissions Vehicle Subsidy ended in 2023, but some energy retailers (AGL, Energy Australia, Origin) still offer discounted charger packages or off-peak tariff plans. Ask us on-site and we'll check current offers.
A straightforward single-phase install takes 3–4 hours. 3-phase or long-cable-run jobs can take 5–6 hours. We work weekends at no extra charge.
2 minutes. We respond same business day.
If you've got solar, a smart charger pays itself back fastest. The myenergi Zappi and Evnex E2 Core both divert surplus solar into your car instead of exporting it for a few cents. We set the solar mode on-site and show you how to read it.
Already running a home battery like a Tesla Powerwall or Sungrow? We'll wire your charger on a dedicated circuit with load management so the house, battery and charger share the available current without tripping. No guesswork, no upgraded switchboard you didn't need.
Every charger we install gets its app paired and an off-peak schedule programmed before we leave, so it fills up overnight on the cheapest tariff. We'll show you how to check what your off-peak window costs.
Most apartment EV installs in Melbourne come down to two things: where the cable runs, and who pays for the switchboard capacity. We handle both.
We've installed in everything from single-car garages to multi-unit blocks across the eastern suburbs. Bring us in early — before the OC vote — and we'll spec it properly the first time.
An EV charger is one of the biggest single loads you can add to a home. Before we quote a price, we check your switchboard — because the right answer depends entirely on what's already there.
Homes in Kew, Camberwell and Hawthorn often still run rewireable or ceramic-fuse boards. These can't safely take a 7kW load — we'll quote a switchboard upgrade to current AS/NZS 3000 as part of the job, with RCBO protection on the charger circuit.
If your board is already RCBO-protected with a spare way, the charger usually drops straight in. This is often closer to the straightforward install — most homes built or rewired in the last 15 years are here.
Already got three-phase to the house? You can run a 22kW charger for the fastest home charging available. We'll confirm phase balance and load-share across existing circuits before recommending a unit.
Not sure which one you are? That's exactly what the free on-site assessment is for — call 0468 403 129 or book a quote and we'll tell you straight.
From recent EV charger installs
"Highly recommend Carbon Group. All we wanted was the supply and installation of an EV charger. Out of 4 contractors Brandon was the only one to visit the site, assess the switchboard and provide a detailed spec and fixed price. Others provided super cheap prices and complex provisos and 'contracts' including 'free switchboard review' which guaranteed a variation the moment they arrived on site. Brandon installed and commissioned the unit within three days of accepting the quote including connection to Wi-Fi, and even returned a few days later to check on things. Very professional, efficient and thorough."
"Brandon was easy to deal with and super helpful in making sense of the EV world. He does what he promises and did a prompt and A1 installation making sure the unit looked great. Top job."
"Very prompt to respond to all queries and requests. Very accommodating with my availability. Very professional and trustworthy. They explain all information I needed in the way I can understand. Brandon and Alex had done an excellent job installing my EV charger and also updated a couple of parts in my fuse box. Brandon is the main person I spoke with and he is extremely helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, patient and understanding. I highly recommend them. Competitive pricing, very respectful, very satisfactory work and generous on important info and EV charger advise. Thank you."
